Baja in Focus: A Sneak Peek at My New Collection

Baja California holds a special place in my heart, a place where my camera finds its truest purpose, and my spirit feels completely free. Of all my travel destinations, it’s the one I return to most often—both for surfing and for capturing the raw beauty of the landscape and the spirit of the people. Right now, I’m working on a project that’s bringing these two passions together. The project is a collection of images that represent each place I visit, a journey through my lens. And this year, Baja is the focus—a place I’ve traveled to four times in the last five months, each time discovering a little more of what keeps drawing me back.

Baja has a unique energy

Baja has a unique energy. There’s an intoxicating mix of freedom, joy, tranquility, and simplicity that’s unlike anything I’ve found elsewhere. On my most recent trip, my girlfriend Kelly and I explored Cerritos Beach and San José del Cabo. Cerritos has become something of a second home; it’s where I’ve made friends with locals who welcomed me in my early visits three years ago. Every return feels like visiting family, catching up over waves, laughter, and simple meals shared under open skies. But this time, I wanted to experience and photograph another side of Baja—the part most visitors see.

So, we did something a little different. We stayed in a hotel in San José del Cabo, immersed ourselves in the resort life with poolside lounging, cocktails, and curated dining experiences. Now, I’m not the type who usually seeks out luxury; the simplicity of life by the shore, surrounded by friends, is usually enough for me. But this stay brought a new perspective and gave me a chance to explore Baja from a fresh angle. It was an experience I enjoyed—an unexpected luxury in a place where I’m usually just “one of the locals.”

Resort life with poolside lounging

This journey is about capturing every facet of Baja’s soul—the rugged coastline, the easy laughter of friends, the warmth of the locals, and the calm serenity of hotel comforts. For my Baja collection, I wanted to tell the whole story, both the local life and the tourist experience, in an authentic and complete way. Each image captures a piece of this duality, the simplicity that calls me back and the new experiences that keep surprising me. Baja is more than a place; it’s a feeling, a way of living, and for me, it’s a story worth telling over and over.

The simplicity of life by the shore

I’m sharing a few photos from this trip as a sneak peek into the world of Baja that I’m so passionate about. Each image holds a moment, a story—a glance at the locals’ simple joys, the stunning landscapes, and the unexpected luxury of a new experience. Consider these glimpses a preview of what’s to come, a window into the full collection that will be released in the new year. My hope is that, through these images, you’ll feel the pull of Baja as I do—the freedom, the calm, the warmth. I can’t wait for you to see the complete collection, to explore every hidden corner, and to see every story captured on this journey. Stay tuned because there’s so much more to share, and I promise it’ll be worth the wait.
