Mondays Are the New Fridays: Embracing the Freedom to Wander
Ever had that moment where you look around and think, Wow, I’m actually living the life I dreamed of? That happened recently when Kelly and I were talking. Somehow, without even meaning to, we’ve made Mondays the new Fridays.
But I’ll be honest—it hasn’t been easy getting here. For the longest time, I thought I had to live the way everyone else does: work Monday through Friday, save the fun for the weekends, and stick to society's schedule. Breaking out of that mindset wasn’t simple, but once I let go of that way of thinking, everything changed.
Now, instead of fighting the weekend crowds, we’re heading out on Mondays—or really, any weekday we feel like. This past October, we hit up Lake Tahoe, Baja Mexico, and Nashville. Traveling during the week has been a total game-changer. Everything’s quieter, there’s more room to breathe, and it feels like the world is opening up just for us.
So many of our trips revolve around photography, which makes this even better. In Tahoe, we jet-skied across the lake in the crisp fall air, capturing moments that felt like they belonged on a postcard. Baja gave us endless beaches, insane sunsets, and those little in-between moments that make a place unforgettable. And Nashville? It was buzzing with music but without the usual weekend chaos. Helping my daughter Maleah move there made it extra special—a mix of family time and big life changes in a city with so much soul.
Making Mondays the new Fridays isn’t just about picking different days to travel—it’s about letting go of the idea that you have to live like everyone else. Life got a lot more fun once I stopped worrying about the “right way” to do things. Mondays aren’t a drag anymore—they’re about adventure, creativity, and chasing something different.
So, if you’ve ever felt stuck in the grind, maybe it’s time to flip the script. Mondays can be whatever you want them to be—maybe even your new Fridays.
