Busy Busy
Recently, I noticed a pattern. When I ask people how they're doing, many say, "I'm super busy." This got me thinking about balancing work and living life to the fullest. As a photographer and van life enthusiast, I often struggle between capturing moments and simply living in them. Do I need to be busy all the time?
I tend to link being busy with success and productivity. There's this pressure to cram our schedules and always be on the move, even if it affects our well-being and happiness. I'm guilty of this, too, always trying to fill my days with tasks and activities, whether planning the next photo shoot or mapping out my next van life destination.
But being busy doesn't always mean feeling fulfilled. You can be busy all day and still feel empty inside. It's essential to pause and think about what truly brings joy and meaning to life. Is it ticking off items on a to-do list or savoring the little moments, like the golden hour light hitting a quiet beach or a spontaneous detour on a road trip?
Balance is crucial. I've been more mindful of my daily life and realized it's about balancing work and play, productivity and relaxation, hustle and calm. It's about focusing on what's important and saying no when needed. Saying "no" doesn't make us lazy; it shows we respect our limits and well-being.
Life isn't a race. While we may feel the urge to keep pushing forward and doing more, life is about enjoying the journey. Instead of chasing busyness, let's aim for balance and fulfillment. Let's prioritize what truly counts: spending time with loved ones, following our passions, enjoying nature's beauty from the back of a van, or capturing the perfect shot that tells a story. Live a life that feels right; you know what it is that's right. Don't let society's expectations or fear of missing out dictate your choices.
Take breaks, have fun, and be present in the moment. Breathe and appreciate all that you have accomplished so far. There's no need to constantly chase something more because happiness is often found in the little things, like a quiet moment in nature or the joy of creating something meaningful. Embrace a slower pace if needed, as it allows for reflection and appreciation.
Being busy doesn't equate to success or happiness. It's essential to find balance and prioritize what truly matters in life. Choose a path that brings fulfillment and joy; you deserve it. Live life at your own pace, embrace the journey, and don't forget to enjoy the ride ❤️. Let go.
But is busyness really the answer? Author Tim Kreider suggests that busyness can be a way to avoid facing emptiness. This mindset might lead us to chase external approval and meet society's expectations. What if we shifted focus and lived with intention? What if we made time for adventure, creativity, and the freedom of the open road?
I wonder, will I regret not being busier on my deathbed, or will I look back and wish I had embraced adventure, roamed the open roads, and enjoyed this gift of life more? I choose the latter ❤️.
